We were recently able to get confirmation for the release of God of War 3. After speaking to the developers at the Video Game Awards, they confirmed with us, that the long assumed date of 2009. The title will support 1080p graphics and will have both sixaxis and rumble support. Unfortunately, we have little more info that we care share with you at this date; however, please check back for updates, as new information comes in.

Today at Sony’s E3 Press Conference, they announced that God of War III will be hitting the console. A brief CG teaser was shown with a voiceover mentioning how victory would follow and Kratos mentioned that only chaos will reign. No release date was given for God of War III.

Translation:The project promises to be as mythical God of War III on PS3 will take shape later this year, since Sony has confirmed during the show of IDEF,that Kratos will appear in HD in Los Angeles, at E3 2008. The chance to attend a session of gameplay, joystick in hand or not, are almost zero, but the show will be worth, since it is the first appearance of the Gods of Olympus in the next era - gen. For the record, remember that leaving the title is approached for the holiday season of 2009.

All good things must come to an end, presumably with a bang and not a whimper, but in the case of Kratos, the antihero of the God of War franchise, he plans on going out by taking the Greek gods with him. Apart from one trailer, details related to the final installment of the series have been practically non-existent until now.

Translation: The developers at Sony Santa Monica said there will be sexual content on it's next title God of War III. The developers also said that the game will run in 1080P and there will be neither online play nor Sixaxis support.

"According to GameSpot's latest HotSpot podcast, SCEA's upcoming action extravaganza is lookin' pretty damn good. So good, in fact, that "the level of realism as far as the graphics go" appears "very close" to what we see in this CG trailer. This is taken from a number of inside sources, and it's even said that GoWIII actually looks a lot like "Beowulf," the CGI blockbuster movie from last year."

What's new is that it will be LATE 2009: God of War III won’t be released on PlayStation 3 for at least another two years. A reliable Sony source has told us that we shouldn’t expect to see Kratos blowing his fuse until around Christmas 2009 at the earliest...

When we got our first look at God Of War III last week, Sony said it would wait until E3 to announce the game's release date, which now appears to be sometime in 2009. According to a recently issued press release, God of War III will be released sometime this year. The PlayStation 3 title is just one of many games the publisher has planned over the next year, including Zipper Interactive's MAG, the "massive action game" it announced at E3 2008.

God of War 3 will use a custom game engine that delivers four times the texture resolution of its predecessor, Sony Computer Entertainment said in a release today. We caught a glimpse of the look of the new game in the trailer aired during last night's Video Game Awards on Spike TV.
