Heavy Rain confirmed for 2010 release

Eurogamer - July 13, 2009

Submitted by soupsoup (237) at 6:28AM PST on July 13, 2009

Quantic Dream exec Guillaume de Fondaumiere has confirmed Heavy Rain won't be released until 2010. "Most publishers today realise that it's not ideal to release a new IP or a new genre just before Christmas. It's a very crowded place to be, and certain games need more space to live their life,"..."Everybody at working on the project, both at Quantic and Sony, believe this is the right time."

Heavy Rain, Quantic Dream's Dark, Emotional Thriller

Hexus - July 22, 2009

When developer Quantic Dream created the unique thriller, Fahrenheit (AKA Indigo Prophecy) back in 2005, its experiment in interactive story telling almost paid off. Commercially, Fahrenheit did sell very well, over 800,000 copies according to the developer. It's always exciting when a developer promises to push the boundaries of a genre and sure enough gamers were lured in by its dark storyline and unique cinematic audio visual experience.

Eurogamer Review 9/10

Eurogamer.net - February 10, 2010

Submitted by NightWolf (355) at 12:40PM PST on February 10, 2010

"While Heavy Rain is an intricate game that deserves to be debated for a long time, it is also a simple one to enjoy: a thrilling mystery, cleverly composed, and unlike anything else you will play this year. It may also be the only game you play this year where pulling the trigger makes you really feel something, and I can think of no greater compliment. "

"There are different ways to get through the game's story. Quantic have implemented SIXAXIS control in order to open windows, hit objects, and other actions. You could actually hear what's going on in the mind of the main character, meaning her thoughts. It lets the player know what choices are available to take in the game. The background items and objects in any area are fully interactive. That means all objects can be used, any door can be opened, it is very interactive.
