In a recent interview with UK's Guardian Unlimited, Will Wright has finally confirmed that a version of Spore is being developed for the Wii. And despite the different controls, Wright seems to like working on the platform.

Sim City was back on the SNES...I think that's too far back to get good sales numbers ;)
I belive The Sims sold fairly well (2 million+) on the PS2 as well. If anyone can find good numbers for any of those titles besides Vgchartz, please do so.
Also, Will Wright's other games (SimCity, Sims, etc) are all built around a mouse interface, which makes it hard to translate it to a console gamepad. The Wiimote would likely make things much easier to port over to the Wii as opposed to older control types.
Also, I don't believe that anything has been said as to what features the Wii version would not have (if anything is to be taken out). Earlier talk has referred to mobile and DS versions, so I wouldn't assume that it will apply to this newly announced version. I haven't seen anything to suggest that Spore is too advanced to run on the Wii.[ Oracle ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 182 ]bids

Have any Will Wright games ever translated into big sales on consoles?
As I understand it...the PC version will be definitive..all other versions (and he has said at one point that all consoles/handhelds will get a version) will be variations on a theme and not the full game.

The fact that it is coming to Wii isn't a surprise is it? Will Wright said months ago that the plan was to role it out to all consoles:

As for the content being different I might have gotten ahead of myself...I recalled that the PC was going to be the ultimate version and perhaps infered in my mind that all other versions (to me he had already confirmed Wii/PS3/Xbox above) would be variants.
