Analysts said Tuesday that video game maker Electronic Arts Inc. is cutting prices on sports games, which the analysts said is a bad sign going into the holiday season.
The games affected include important sports titles such as "NBA Live 08," "Madden NFL 08" and "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08."

RE: EA cutting prices on sports games.I do think the decreased pricing is an indicator of softening demand for EA's sports titles. The sales so far appear down y-o-y. There shouldn't be a reason to discount in the holidays either...but this holiday season is packed with many AAA titles. I think the price cut will allow parents to get their kids a blockbuster game and one of ea's sports games at the same time. Too many block busters for EA to compete with. Kids want/need the Madden and NBA Live, but when their parents say they can have one game, they don't choose the sports ones...
