From Friday, November 23, 2007 to December 31, 2007, Sony sold 1.2 million PlayStation 3 units in North America, as well as 1.4 million PlayStation Portable. Note that this includes a week and a couple of days from the November NPD, and is still missing almost a week from January.

for the main part i agree with your statement but id say that canada takes a slightly higher percentage and that considering the ps3 predction in january is only 250k atm for just 5 days ur looking at more 40-50k, so i doubt december npd it will even be 930k, more like 850k i reckon.[ Oracle ] [ Level 22 ] [ Rank: 150 ]bids

IMO, those that are thinking these are great numbers, they aren't. Not bad, but certainly nowhere near great.
1.2M for Nov 23rd - Dec 31st.
8-9% to Canada = ~1.1M units
9 of those days were in November's NPD, which were 466k. Out of 28 days, 9 were taken, and it's safe to assume they accounted for ~50% if not greater, subtract out ~250-275k.
That leaves you with ~850k + 5 days of January (let's say 80-90k) = ~930k
Assuming we can believe Sony's PR, which is notoriously different from NPD reality.
So, while they aren't great, they are world's better than the PS3's performance to date, and thus show a substantial improvement, which is good given that they were unable to generate any software that was compelling to the overall marke[ Elite ] [ Level 19 ] [ Rank: 515 ]bids

Canada has historically been 7% of US overall, but in certain specific instances it's been higher for Nintendo and at times, Microsoft. 8-9% is a very safe percentage. Regarding January's sales, they aren't linear. The first week sells more than the second which sell more than the other 2 weeks. It's a hangover from Christmas sales, mostly due to gift card, & gift cash.
