MCV has it on very good authority that Microsoft is planning an Xbox 360 price cut at the end of the month, which will allow its lower-spec Arcade model to compete with Nintendo’s Wii on price.
In what is being seen as a significant move to attract the family market, that would mean a dip from Arcade’s current price of £199.99 to something closer to £179.99.

I haven't heard that GTA requires a hard drive as Microsoft has been trying to keep games from requiring a hard drive on the 360, but if someone is purchasing GTA on the 360, they most likely want to get the full experience by also getting the exclusive downloadable content for the 360 version coming out at a later time - meaning that a hard drive would be needed.
If Microsoft does cut the price of the Arcade to below the Wii's price, I don't think this will have much of an immmediate effect on the sales of the Wii, but could take some sales from the Wii over time - though Nintendo could probably cut the price by a little or add another color before the Arcade could start stealing a significant number of sales.[ Oracle ] [ Level 20 ] [ Rank: 294 ]bids

The Arcade price was cut to £199 only in the UK last year...I guess this would be a further cut to match the Wii and might be driven by UK retail. Especially as they're banking on GTA:IV to push even more hardware. If they can get Microsoft to cut the Arcade price they can push a cheap GTA:IV machine on punters and take less of a loss.[ Oracle ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 291 ]bids
