After getting most of his gaming possessions and car stolen, Evil Avatar forum member OSX found that someone was purchasing several thousand MS Points under his Xbox Live gamertag. Requests to have his credit card information removed from his account revealed that it would take up to 30 days to complete such a request. Microsoft also refused to take back the points/refund the money spent on said points, suggesting that he take his issue to their credit card company.

Someone speculated that this is because Microsoft doesn't want you to cancel XBOX Live subscription, so they disabled credit card info removal.
One way to avoid this problem is editing your cc info (it is allowed), and change some of the info on it, so anyone using that "intentionally wrong" info couldn't do a purchase.[ Oracle ] [ Level 30 ] [ Rank: 14935 ]bids

Yeah, I don't really know what goes on behind the scenes to get a credit card removed from a database, but unless it involves sending some sled dogs and their driver trekking across Antarctica to some remote server housed in a shack, it could probably be shorter.[ Veteran ] [ Level 13 ] [ Rank: 825 ]bids

I meant that banks can immediately block / disable any stolen CC, as soon as you report it to them. Shouldn't MSFT able to do that, say, within 24 hours or 3x24, instead of 30 DAYS ?[ Oracle ] [ Level 30 ] [ Rank: 14935 ]bids

Assuming that they don't verify the name on the card upon modification, this would indeed be a good stop gap measure prior to MS actually removing the info.
