I didn't think you expect a price cut. I am just using your post as "jumping stone". I still haven't got used to use the "submit comment" instead of clicking on "reply".
I think Microsoft will not do price cut this year. They might be wary of the fact that GC did a price cut several times, and everytime they only do a several month sales increase, and then sales level return to normal (third place in US).
The only way I see Microsoft do a price cut this year is IF PS3 managed to get double X360 sales in July and August in US (which I don't think is a big possibility).
I agree. The bost will be short term. The question how much will it be and how long will it hold? How much supply of the Pro is there? How much boost can we expect?
Another question is weather or not MS do a real price cut. With madden in August is a chance, but I think fall this year will be more likely ;)
@apujanata, I wasn't saying I expected another price cut. I was just stating that it seems that a short term, minor boost will probably occur because of the "price cut".
If I was Microsoft, I would not be satisfied with the current sales level as the sales are slowing down and are failing to break outside the hardcore gaming market.
I think Microsoft are satisfied with their current sales level, especially the fact that their division is in black. Probably we are not going to see another price cut by Microsoft in 2008.
I guess we will be seeing some short term boost in 360 sales until the 20GB supply runs out (just as we saw when the 80GB PS3 replaced a discounted 60GB PS3).
It's interesting to see that Microsoft pulled a Sony (doing a short term price cut to get rid of supply of a no longer manufactured SKU and then releasing a replacement SKU at the original price of the discontinued SKU).
It's good news for Sony that Microsoft did not 'actually' bring down the price on the mid-range unit.
