Nintendo have provided us with a handy line graph showing off the success that third parties have had on its console. It's devoid of confusing first-party data, which mucks up the numbers, and "demonstrates that third parties on Wii are tracking ahead of both PS3 and 360."
On display are the first 19 months of each console's lifecycle. That impressive upward tick on the blue line — the Wii line — starts its ascent right around the time that Guitar Hero III made its way to the Wii platform.

Since this article or data is only concerned with debunking "3rd party didn't sell on Wii" myth, I don't think it is a "problem" that they didn't take into account that Wii's tie-in ratio is worse than other console. It is measuring absolute #, not # / title, or tie-in ratio. I remember that GC used to have the best tie-in ratio of a single game in Japan (better than any PS2 game), in the form of SSBM game, and it can achieve this because of the abysmal H/W # for GC in Japan.
I think quite a few people are surprised by this fact. I know that I am one of the surprised one. I knew that some Wii games are starting to sell better (witness GH3 and other newly released games) compared to X360 or PS3, but I didn't realize that it is selling as good as this.
