Good posts below. I think the key to EA's future success will be getting the Wii userbase to buy Madden etc, otherwise I just don't see them pulling in the revenue.
Riccitello's done a good job and I'm also a little disappointed the drive for quality hasn't seen improved results. Hopefully they will in time.
I think the Take 2 malarkey is the biggest minus point you could say right now. Mind you, I've shares in Midway so I'm proper screwed![ Oracle ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 291 ]bids

Ok, let's see what game EA offered in 2009. In 2009, Riccitiello would be 2 years into his CEO position. He would have sufficient development time to show off the kind of game he wanted.
I am not really concerned about EA fate, since I don't have ERTS stock. I am more concerned that EA's All-play franchise are widely rejected by gamers, and their sales # suffered a lot. EA should followed Tiger Woods series treatment of Wii, not Madden 09 All Play. If this kind of mis-treatment of Wii keep happening in the future, it give opportunity to other companies (whether it is western or japanese) to grab EA's market share, and run with it.
I realized that my previous post on EA made me look like I hate EA, but I am not. I am mostly "don't care" about EA, since I don't play EA produced games (like realistic sports games). I do however played games by Origin, Westwood on PC, and EA's treatment of those companies and their IP is "severely disappointing", to say the least (it did'nt cause me to hate EA).
I hope EA's treament of Bioware (another favorite company for me) are much better than Origin and Westwood.[ Oracle ] [ Level 30 ] [ Rank: 14935 ]bids

Certainly EA's past reputation haunts them and public opinion will likely be the last thing to change. But I believe you cannot blame their situation on current management.
Riccitiello has been CEO for about a year and a half now, since 04/02/07. That means most of those XB360/PS3 games that you've seen this season were likely started well before the current management was in charge. Riccitiello is simply trying to play the hand he was dealt as well as he could, a hand full of 360/PS3 cards and few strong Wii cards.
He chose to take risk and to focus on new IP like Dead Space, and the more innovative titles like Mirror's Edge, while canning things like the FPS spinoff Tiberium. Unfortunately for EA they have not been as successful as hoped, but I think they impressed a lot of gamers and may have sowed the seeds for some new long term franchises.
In his time there he has also acquired Bioware and Pandemic, and he's signed deals with ID, Epic, and Grasshopper Manufacture, partnerships that seemed impossible only a couple years ago.
I don't want to come off as an EA apologist, but I just call them like I see them. EA has not been perfect but I feel that the current management has made good moves even though right now they're not paying off financially. In time I believe that will change too.

The sin of their past caught up with them. It is not easy to turn around ship, especially one that is mismanaged. Even now it is still mismanaged, IMO, since their innovation and quality are mostly (not all, but mostly) put on X360 and PS3, while their Wii offering's are lacking or not interesting enough (I only had 2 EA games on Wii, while I have lots of third party games on it).
I hope EA can get better in 2009. Otherwise, it could be out of Top 5 in US (revenue based).[ Oracle ] [ Level 30 ] [ Rank: 14935 ]bids

Real life stock, not much. I figured I could gamble on them going up again once they crashed the first time. Unfortunately they get going!
Looks bleak for them now...but we'll see.
