A SCEA executive has said sales of PS3 were up by more than 130pc during the festive period. "We've had a solid holiday season and have delivered consistent growth throughout this year," said sales vice president Ian Jackson, in a statement to CNET. As the CNET article points out, PS3 sales were down by 18.8 pc for Nov 2008 compared to the same month a year previously. But Sony blamed "an abnormally strong month due to a price cut (with) the introduction of the 40GB PS3".

I think it is 130% compared to non-festive (a.k.a. non-holiday) period. It could be anything like week of christmas vs week before christmas, or 2 weeks of early Dec vs 2 weeks of later Dec (Christmas + week before christmas).

Although I've posted it, I think the statement is ambiguous. 130% of what exactly? The week before? month on month?
130% YoY for December is a massive turnaround from November NPD. It would also put PS3 at well over 1m for the month if it was YoY.
