“They have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates [the number of games each console owner buys] are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony.”

This comment by Activision really reflects their greed. Sony cannot afford a price drop when Activision has wanted it at the various times within the past year. Activision is just trying to bully others for its own earnings.
Tony Hawk Ride & DJ Hero are going to cost $120, Guitar Hero 5 $100, and Band Hero $200. What they want is more people to buy these games closest to release so they can make huge profit margins.[ Oracle ] [ Level 26 ] [ Rank: 241 ]bids

This was a ridiculous comment whichever way you look at it. Was PS3 not their biggest bread earner for the fiscal last year? Even if it costs were higher then the other consoles they are without a doubt making huge profit. Maybe they are frustrated with the royalties they have to pay Sony? Also they should be pumped about the PSP go its a developers dream come true, download only, no piracy and no middleman.[ Guru ] [ Level 17 ] [ Rank: 570 ]bids

It's just needless posturing not even based on that much fact. I very much doubt they're PS3 business is making a loss. Their PS2 business definitely isn't.

Depends, if by concentrating on consoles they deem more profitable they could overhaul any PS3 sales lost.
What will be interesting is if Sony respond ahead of a planned cut due to pressure from Activision. I think they may be seeing signs of financial improvements but whether the games division can win an argument for a price cut or whether that money will be used elsewhere in the group is another matter.
