Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith today confirmed that Call of Duty creator Infinity Ward, which most recently handled Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, will return to the franchise next year with Call of Duty 6. <br /> <br />"In 2009, we expect Infinity Ward to deliver another [entry of] ground-breaking quality, Call of Duty 6," Griffith stated at today's Activision Blizzard Analyst Day. Earlier this year, the CEO revealed that a new Call of Duty game would arrive in 2009, but did not offer any other details at the time.Confusingly, Griffith's presentation today seemed to date CoD 6 for 2010 as well. After discussing Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War, which he referred to as Call of Duty 5, the CEO said that "for calendar year 2010, Infinity Ward is already at work on the next installment in the franchise."

Modern Warfare 2 Prestige sells out in UK

It looks like the Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 2 has now sold out in the UK.
The limited edition SKU, which was made available to pre-order yesterday exclusively at HMV.com, is now unavailable to order, with a notice stating that the title has since been "deleted".

Xbox 360 Gamers Defecting To PS3 For Holiday Sequels

It's coming time for the Holiday launches of anticipated multiplatform sequels -- and new data provided to Gamasutra by OTX's GamePlan Insights finds that many sequel-buyers might be switching platforms, defecting from Xbox 360 to PlayStation 3 for more than one major release.
"The PS3 seems poised to shift the ratio of Xbox 360 to PS3 sales for most major multi-platform releases in its favor among dual owners," Williams tells us.

Modern Warfare to Sell 1.7 Million in UK in Week 1

This week's issue of MCV reports that sources close to some of Activision's rival publishers are predicting opening week sales of 1.7 million units for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This figure has been estimated based massive pre-release anticipation for the title which includes 500,000 pre-orders at retail.

Jason West and Vince Zampella, two lead developers at Infinity Ward, met with Activision earlier today. Then they seemed to disappear and "bouncer-types" showed up at the studio. This Activision filing might explain why.
"The Company is concluding an internal human resources inquiry into breaches of contract and insubordination by two senior employees at Infinity Ward," "This matter is expected to involve the departure of key personnel and litigation."

The logic in this conclusion is flawed. It's based on two games and on those who own both consoles, quite a small proportion of the overall userbase.

Looking at the PS3 for a moment, I am not sure if the slim or the price is the reason for the upsurge with the PS3 sales. Maybe they needed to do both one on its own may not of been enough.
The 360 is not struggling in the same way the PS3 was perceived to be struggling so we have had the major price cut and will know doubt receive another adjustment and next year we may see the design change.
