I must say CoD4 is the most fun I've had while playing an FPS for a while. The game works very well on console--Infinity Ward made it so you can pull the left trigger to target the enemy closest to your cross hair.
Although you aren't fighting in massive WWII battles, the combat still feels pretty large scale as you battle through cities in the Middle East.
I particularly liked the level where you provide air support for ground forces by gunning from a plane (similar to the desert scene in Transformers). there's also some very nice touches like a level where you wear a gillie suit.
The scripting of events is very well done so that the single player campaign feels extremely intense. The single player isn't the longest, but it is very addicting, so you may find yourself beating the single player game in one sitting.
