Warning this is acasual observation so please dont downbid :) I was coming back on the train to London a bit early (in time for school kids) and saw bunch after bunch of teenage boys with DS playing Mario Kart via Wifi . It immediately hit me: its these people that are the bedrock of DS. I never understood the draw of DS when my 3 year old dell axim x50v could do better graphics. I thought I would never buy a DS... but for the target market the DS is cheap enough AND social enough that makes it sell by the millions. Its the new aspect of social computing that is far more important to the market than higher specs. Even I, who have NEVER considered buying a DS wouldnt mind getting one just to play on the train ...
