I fall into the latter camp, I did see some light for the HD DVD format based on cost and less DRM although I still was not sure it had what was needed to see off the upscaled DVD and the pay per view download options.
Blu Ray has come through the victor but I seriously doubt it will succeed in anything other than driving more upscale DVD purchases and accelerating the uptake of pay per view download options.
