The biggest problem you have with the PC market in my opinion is the Digital delivery mechanisms. Steam for example must account for a high percentage of certain game types. Although Steam is not the only delivery system performing well in the PC arena.
I think at times this can almost give the impression the PC market has died a complete death when certain high profile games do not perform as well when using conventional measures.
For example if I was to buy Frontlines Fuel of War for the PC I would almost certainly purchase it digitally via Steam. The Steam system effectively stores all my games for me so the risk of damage or loss are neglible and I get a degree of portability.
Unfortunately Valve have never seen fit to provide any detail to anybody other than the publisher or developer using the system. Although they are keen to brag about the level of detail they would get.
