Now how much will that 50MB connection cost you? How stable will it be? What percentage do you receive?
According to broadbandwatchdog.co.uk
50MB is £47 / month! 20MB is £37 / month
I take it you don't have to pay for a Live subscription too!?
You also have to factor in contention, distance from the exchange and line quality. I pay for 8 and just about get 5. A tenth of what they describe in this article. I imagine these times (15mins) are calculated from the maximum obtainable speed (50Mb). Not the average.
While streaming is fine if you have a dedicated, reliable connection. It's a joke to buffer a HD film without one. My broadband isn't even staying connected ATM. Don't get me started on peak time traffic shaping. Unless they sort out the shocking broadband services in this country (UK). HD downloads are just not yet practical for most people here.
Renting of course doesn't have a storage problem, if you have to delete the content. Is Live only renting films or selling them too? If they are the additional hard drives necessary for any movies / episodes you decide to keep and you've got one stupid platform.
What's the situation in the US now and in the near future? Pretty sure everyone gets a better deal than us Brits.
