I think the situation in the industry now is much worse than it appears.
The vast majority of games lose money, and the losses are recouped if and when you can pull out a big hit.
While the gaming population and revenue/sales are all growing, costs of development are going up significantly faster.
We are at a breaking point for the basic business model that the entire industry is based on.
