God of War Chains of Olympus named best new game for PSP:
From PSPFANBOY who has password protected access to the pressrelease and thus had to summarize:
The jury stated "'God of War' elevates the action genre to an art form, including on the PlayStation Portable: where other titles descend into brutish slaughter, God of War lends the battlefield a sombre beauty."
We've been following this for a few weeks now, hoping it would turn out as rumour but the delay is now effectively official.
Sony's Leipzig Games Convention God of War: Chains of Olympus press release states an early 2008 release for the game, which had originally been expected to form part of this Christmas' PSP line-up.
And although we've suffered them before, this time it isn't simply a European delay, either. A quick check of some of the major US online retailers has revealed a similar situation facing PSP owners on the other side of the Atlantic, with release dates now ranging from January to as late as April, with the latter seemingly the more accurate estimation.
If any game would be a million seller on the PSP, wouldn't this be it? Said by many to be the PSP's killer app and holding the god of war name, combined with the overwhelming positive response from previews, and I would expect this to be a multi-million seller and this stock isn't even breaking one million. A look at previous million sellers Here and only GTA comes anywhere close to this game.
I agree that it is good to have games at 333Mhz BUT it does mean that battery life will be even shorter.
I've read that this bump in speed for the games is another indication that the PSP redesign (which is supposed to have better battery life) is close at hand.
The 'quick gain' investors are out of this stock now from IPO and it is back to almost issue price. 80dkp was based on an install base of 21million PSP and Sony is on track to be at 30 million PSP by Mar 2008. Based on strength of franchise, early video evidence/reviews and growing PSP user base this game should easily be a million seller (and that isn't a common thing with the PSP). For a long term hold your looking at 20% upside right now.
I have been a solid DS lite owner/lover since it's release, and i also share a great amorosity for the GoW franchise. After seeing those videos, if it can deliver the same gameplay feel, etc as the ps2 version i expect this stock to take at least two rides, one upon its release, and then another after the psp refresh and the channel is flooded with both 1. cheap psp1's and cooler new psp2's that may appeal to someone like me who'd love to have this game in handheld form. Then there's always the greatest hit's collection. I'd be very surprised if this didn't become the PSP killer-app.
There are two videos posted to GameVideos TODAY from SONY Gamer's Day that shows GOW:CofO actually running on a PSP ... for anyone interested in GOWCofO investing OR PSP investing this is a must see video showing how good the graphics can really be on that system.
