Well this should be interesting, if only as a lesson in how much stock Microsoft and RedOctane place in customer feedback: more Guitar Hero tracks should be turning up on the Xbox Live Marketplace sometime in July.
Seeing as this stems from an admin comment on the game's official boards, there's of course no further info, so anyone hoping or praying for some fairer pricing and/or song bundling needs to hope and pray just a little bit more.
So, any ideas on what the songs might be? A few more tracks lifted from Guitar Hero 1, or a few tracks lifted from Guitar Hero 80s?
I love the idea of Guitar Hero as a new Karaoke! You spend so much time trying to get 100% on a favorite song (for me it's been Monkey Wrench on Hard) and when it happens, you really can't do anything with it..
Some of my friends and I get together and do co-op and we have a blast with some of the more off the wall songs.. This is just a great game, and anyone that's played it and has an inkling of rhythm has gone and bought the game shortly thereafter.
As far as the value on this, I see sales increasing as more people play it. I'm not a huge fan of Sony, so I didn't have a PS2, which means that I had seen GH previously, but never played it. I wanted to, but didn't want to spend the money for a PS2 just for that game. With having a 360, I NEEDED this game. Finally it was coming to a system that I had with loads of songs and DLC. I can't wait to see what comes next from Harmonix, as I'd love to have a drum set to be able to play as well...
Gaara, why did you delete the additions of the NPD sales numbers? I think those are good additions to the wiki as long as they are publicly available with citable sources.
I approved your change because I think the official site is good, but I'm adding the past sales numbers back in.
I think it is a good idea to start including a link to the official site of the game in the summary. I want this to be a more open discussion on whether we should include a link to the official site as a sort of standard, so I won't approve my own submission to see what others think about this idea.
I wonder if this was done legally. They'd have to pay for the right to use the songs in this fashion (karaoke businesses have to license the songs). Even if game maker doesn't mind, the music companies might.
Wow, if this begins to take off I think we will see ever more sales for Guitar Hero.
Imagine if all the bars around the world started hosting Guitar Hero night instead of or on top of Karaoke Night, or even if Guitar Hero Bars begin opening up in places.
People who might not have bought the game might go out to buy it to practice then come to the bars to show off their gaming skills.
SOMERVILLE -- On Sunday nights at Orleans in Davis Square, Red Sox games are shown on small flat-screen televisions by the bar. The big projection screen by the window is reserved for something else: ax -grinding and shredding.
Sundays are Guitar Hero nights , which means the bar is taken over by gamers who battle one another with guitar-shaped joysticks that are used to play anthems by bands like Guns N' Roses, Metallica, and Nirvana.
"Sunday nights were our slowest nights , so it's been a big help getting people in the door," said Mike Cotter , an Orleans manager. "I didn't realize how popular it was."
