I think Zelda TP on Gamecube might sell the 0.8 modifier you're applying, which would mean it would have to sell 573,800 outside of NA. But I don't expect the GC version to sell much more than that figure so I think it should stand at its current DKP of 148. JA has already shown lukewarm interest in the Wii version, based on the older article about the downward trend in Zelda titles in JA. http://www.vgcharts.org/news/news.php?id=59
Momentum is still strong on the GC version of LoZ:TP. The game sold 152,000 copies in NA through Jan 07 according to VGCharts. This puts the game at 717,250 copies in NA. I think its fair to give LoZ games a 0.8 modifier to calculate sales outside of NA (Japan numbers not available on VGCharts for GC version). This analysis would put the GC version at 1,291,050 copies sold at 2 months age. I think the stock may still be slightly undervalued.
Well many people had the title preordered, or even fully paid many years before the game released. So we should expect its sales in December to be very high, but it won't continue at a high sale rate comparatively because most who wanted it already got it. While previous GC releases benefited from becoming players choice, a large currently playing userbase, and later buyers of the system; Zelda will not benefit from any of those because its the GC's last gasp and people are moving on (and its available on wii).
VGcharts shows the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess sold 597,000 copies in North America alone in December. It appears the Gamecube has much longer legs than people have been expecting. That's less than a 3x Price to First Month Sales ratio. I think this is a good buy.
Hahah I didn't even understand the VGCats comic until I read csinning's comment.
I know of a few people who actually prefer the Game Cube version over the Wii version of Twilight Princess. The game was originally designed for GC and then arguably hastly ported to Wii. A number of reviews point to how the controls for the Wii version are not as polished as they should be.
I really think that Nintendo did this on purpose. They wanted to break with the game cube. It was not a great era for the company, though it was profitable, it carried the wrong image. They are trying to build something new with the Wii and DS. At the same time they promised twilight princess on the Game Cube and so they delivered. I really think its as simple as that. It came out late, but they still kept their word, while at the same time sending a signal that the Game Cube is done.
The graphics are exactly the same, this is essentially a very pretty Gamecube game, not really a Wii game. The only graphical difference is the Wii version has an option for 16:9.
Do you think there will be a graphical difference between the gc version and the wii version of this? I mean, what if the gc handles the graphics better..
