Well none of this matters anymore as the release date has been bumped to October 29. This means better sales for the game as it won't have a chance to be pushed out of the way by Halo 3 in advertising or such.
How do you KNOW that this is true? Has there been some study done that I'm not aware of that determined who owned which consoles, or are you basing this off of anecdotal evidence?
The fact that this game is coming out the day before Halo 3 does not matter much in accordance to this stock's price for a couple of reasons: 1. It comes out BEFORE Halo 3 and 2. This game and Halo 3 target mostly different audiences. Also, fans of the first game are still going to buy the game the week it comes out no matter if Halo 3 comes out then or not. The only way I can see the release of Halo 3 affecting the sales of this game is taking up advertising space and some attention from the gaming media. At this point the installed base of the Wii and 360 are mostly those that own the other console, so money being spent on a game for the 360 over a game for the Wii by someone is less likely. This game's sales performance will be determined by the quality of the game more so than its proximity in release date to another title.
