GigaMedia announced today it has secured an exclusive license from Electronic Arts to offer and operate the highly anticipated game Warhammer(R) Online: Age of Reckoning(TM) in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
Well luckily for most MMORPGs, their lifespan lasts for a good 3-5 years, not a single year, so even a moderately performing MMORPG can sell 2 million in all countries put together (remember how big MMORPGs are in Asia).
Probably because of this article, the PC market doesn't look to strong other than World of Warcraft. Other than those titles, no PC game sold over 500k or 50DKP in 2007 in America.
In the sixth and last beta update before the return of the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning beta, the folks at EA Mythic talk about how to build a city, the guild and social tools, and recent changes to RvR.

(NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that Warhammer® Online: Age of Reckoning™ (WAR), the highly anticipated massively-multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) from EA Mythic, has surpassed 500,000 closed beta registrants in North America and Europe. Not really an article, but I figured it was worth noting. According to the counter on the official WAR :Online website the number of beta applications has broken the 500,000 mark.
Today we bring your part five of our Beta Update series. The re-opening of beta is swiftly approaching and the furnaces are burning full steam ahead here at EA Mythic. All of the teams have been working like mad men to make magic happen throughout the entire game. This weeks witchcraft brings you even more information about the inevitable city, character creation, and questions directly from the beta testers about Keeps and Career Mastery. Enjoy!
It is widely believed to be one of the most anticipated MMORPG's in the pipe line at the moment it has around 500,000 beta sign ups more than any MMORPG before it. It has the benefit of a absolutely huge 'potential' customer base with the Warhammer name in table top games (I do realise it is important to state 'potential'). There are a lot of reasons why this could reach 2 million or more. So far there has been no or very little negative feed back, there also taking there time to release a polished finished game.
