Mario and Sonic was the third best selling game for the WII in North America last month according this site. Hope this is confirmed by NPD. If so how many units are we looking at for november????
It would have been unthinkable several years ago, but Sega has toppled Nintendo’s ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ with ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games’ recording the largest sales week of any individual Nintendo Wii title, up from No14 to No7 in the all format's chart. And up from No2 to No1 in the Wii sales chart leaving Mario in the dust...
300k? Easy...it's beating Mario Galaxy which is the same price and it's beatinging during the biggest video game buying season ever. Also note my google Trends of "Mario Olympics" is still on the rise while "Mario Galaxy" is way on the decline. I think this means that families will be buying Mario and Sonic so their kids can play together as opposed to Mario Galaxy which is always one player and no fun for people that gotta watch that crap...
Nice job, the post is over 2 month old. I had a lot of ifs, and one is definitly not true: The controls. It is heavy advertised in Europe though. Don't know where you get official numbers, but it isn't doing bad in Europe/UK (if you go by VGC, Chart Track), doing bad in NA (again VGC, but they tend to underestimate the casual market compared to NPD) it had a decent release in Japan (not bad not good).
Again, the 4 Million is not my prediction, and was most likley for both version of the game (DS+Wii). 2 Million isn't out of the question for the Wii version. And the DS version should do outstanding in Japan, being a mario sonic minigame collection on the DS.
@Bleezy, this is an interesting metric. Do you guys look at the Gamespot Trax and IGN Gamermetrics products to aid with your forecasting? I haven't really decided if Internet traffic volume is an indicator of purchase intent. It is a metric for buzz, but that could just be lots of people thinking a game is bad or lots of people just reading reviews and then becoming discouraged.

Is 23DKP too low if this is third behind Super Mario Galaxy in USA?
