Vgchartz is reporting that this game has sold 889,072 in its first week, if this is anywhere near close, it would not be a surprise if Madden 08 for the Xbox360 goes on to sell more than a million copies in its first month. Especially on the Xbox360, were the demographics lean more toward people who would buy this game, plus this game was also heavily marketed (like all Maddens). Also this game is considered the first true next-gen Madden, with it receiving generally good reviews (it holds a 87% on GameRankings.com).
Also, looking at last years sales numbers for the first week, Madden 07 sold 1,148,367 for PS2 and 625,461 for Xbox360. With the increased install base of the Xbox360 and the fact that this game is considered better than the previous years Madden, it would not be surprising if it was able to sell more than a million copies in its first month.
@judge_khan, my thoughts are (1) the much larger install base of Xbox 360 players now and (2) Madden NFL 08 will be the first Madden game many of these people pick up. I know a lot of people who got a 360 in the past year but decided to wait for this year's Madden before picking a copy up. I think we can all agree the 360 install base as grown dramatically since this time last year due to Gears of War as a catalyst for the 360 in holiday 2006.
I agree there is no market outside NA. 2.43 may be a bit high though even considering the logic I've presented.
Pretty neat idea. You can purchase a championship ring from Josten's if you complete parts of the game. The more you beat, the more you can customize.
This will be perfect for our fantasy football grand prize.

I see. 1 million is indeed not too far off then.
