Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction is a very entertaining game and a solid platform title on the PS3. Loading in the game is very quick and there are a ton of options and weapons for you to choose from to cause mayhem. It also takes advantage of the six axis controls and tries to incorporate it into the gameplay as much as possible.
Today we have one of the best looking games I’ve seen this year, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction on PS3. This is a great, fun and charming action and platforming game in which your fuzzy faced Lombax character runs around like a crazy thing, killing bad guys and collecting bolts with your quirky little robot buddy. Awesome."
@Laoldar, I don't have access to NPD--I wonder how many people here are subscribers and do price this information in. there is the possibility that this data was released to the public when it happened, but I assume 1UP asked NPD for the data to do the story.
@CrAzZyYmAn, this is interesting. The simExchange was disappointed with the actual sales (we were forecasting well over 100k). I guess we should've better studied the first month comps.
With the PS3 high buying rate(smirk), R&C our two cuddly, and lovable duo is back, but with vengence. It seems like it's working, it's making me sick just wondering how repetitive and boring the gameplay is going to be. But, I guess I'll just have to have a brown paper barf bag next to me while I explore another desolate world filled with nuts and bolts. And eccentric weapons that seem so useless at times.
Kali's Opinon: Well... *Excuse Me* (Throws up on his keyboard.) Back to what I was saying, the repetitive gameplay, the boring lands you discover, and all in all if they pay the same attention in the overall function of the game, than the amount of effort they put in weapon details. Well let's say it'd be on my shelf. Instead of my toilet.
First-month performance for the entire Ratchet & Clank series, provided by the NPD Group, is as follows:
# Ratchet & Clank (November 2002) -- 112,000 units
# Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando (November 2003) -- 125,000 units
# Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal (November 2004) -- 207, 500 units
# Ratchet: Deadlocked (October 2005) -- 55,300 units
# Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (October 2007) -- 74,500 units
In some senses, Insomniac does need a clip 'round the ear for doing very little to innovate the gameplay in any meaningful sense, but if you're happy to play through a wonderful high definition version of an old classic, put your money down - you won't be remotely disappointed.
