A patch for Bully: Scholarship Edition has been released on Xbox Live in lieu of the "broad worldwide announcement" expected today. But what does it fix? We don't know for sure, and various readers have reported the technical problems are either not fixed at all or in some cases worse. We've contacted Rockstar for more information.
@apujanata, Please note that this is a progress-report of the patch that was promised by Rockstart last week, on the article dated March 7, 2008, on joystiq.
As of now, the patch was not up yet.
I hope that Microsoft can speed up the approval process, so the sales of this games are not badly affected.
I just spoke to a Rockstar rep who has confirmed to me that the problems people have been having with Bully: Scholarship Edition have been identified and the work on the patch is finished. It's up to Microsoft now to approve the patch for mass download. Hopefully, Microsoft will approve it very soon. Keep checking RockstarWatch as we are constantly checking for the patch's release.
Had the crash problems not made it into the retail code, we might have scored it higher, but Rockstar's programmers are in detention this week sorting it out, so hopefully within a few days of your reading this we won't feel like beating them up behind the bike-sheds as we do now. The fact we're so happy to be playing Bully again in spite of this ought to speak for itself.
Rated "S" for stupidity:
"Bully: Scholarship Edition went on sale in Britain today, and according to the BBC, both the National Union of Teachers and the Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association have condemned it."
What you said is true. The original article is based forum thread. If I didn't change the article, I can understand the low upbid.
However, I change the article 4 hours before Welshbloke post his article. I even put a comment on it so people can read that comment and realize there is an "official update and changes". You can see my comment here and compared the time stamp with this article's timestamp. I think in the future, I will just create a new article, instead of revising the article.
Rockstar's been awfully apologetic about the game-breaking bugs and glitches present in the Xbox 360 version of Bully: Scholarship Edition (as they should be). In the latest public apology, a Rockstar Games representative is promising a fix within the next week, in the form of a title update via Xbox Live.
indeed, the flood of articles lately buries older articles. and indeed as llonesmiz has said, it's very easy to up bid a more recent article and then notice that it had been posted before.
i think also, the title and original source of your submission (if i remember correctly, you originally had the article pointing to neogaf) are reasons why yours might not have been upbid. a forum thread from some users that say it does indeed freeze holds less credibility than blog posts from established sites and also official statements from people in the industry. (again, this is basing off what i remember being in the original post before edits)
It's obviously not fair, but it is quite simple to explain: you probably posted the article at a time when very few people were watching. Then it was buried by other news at a busier time. Welshbloke was lucky that he/she posted that article at a more favorable time. Another posible problem is that the first article you see is the last that was posted and if you think it is interesting you usually upbid it immediately. If later you notice that it's a dupe you can't undo that upbid.
