@vGInfidel, Thanks for that. I've removed it. For future reference, how do I post an article in the general 'industry news' section rather than attached to a single game? And how do I view that section?
@Rol83, Oops. I missed that. Is there an easy way to see that section of the site? I can't see an obvious link to it (and didn't know it existed until now).
When sites reviewing Ninja Gaiden 2 encountered serious framerate issues, most assumed that this was just a problem with the review build which would be fixed for the release (as with some previous games). In fact, CVG staff confirmed on their forums that "[they] reviewed off PAL, boxed retail copy. Slowdown very much still there."
One thing to note is that there have been mixed reports about the review build. Someone mentioned that the review build have issues that have been resolved for retail release -- sort of similar scenario as with Lost Odyssey for Xbox 360. Yet, their is also talk that it might not be the case since PAL retail version still have issues. (In either case, that info should be taken with the grain of salt.)
That said, the forecasts 2.57M copies sold (as of May 27, 2008 @ 11:10am) seems a bit high. The original Ninja Gaiden wasn't selling that great. It took few years just to pass 1 mil mark and that is including the release of Ninja Gaiden Black.
With Ninja Gaiden 2 is being released in almost a week, having received some what lower score might have an impact on sales. I would take a guess that outside of core Ninja Giaden fans -- most will either rent or skip it all together.
Ninja Gaiden 2 is a spectacle. Its predecessor has come to be remembered for a steep but perfectly pitched difficulty curve - but firing up NG2 for the first time is a reminder of just how cinematic and exciting the whole thing is, too. With Ninja Gaiden, we came for the eye-catching, beautiful combat, and stayed for the challenge. Ninja Gaiden 2 ramps up the first part of that formula to a whole new level.
Ninja Gaiden II is easily one of the best action games on Xbox 360. The depth in combat is as exciting as ever and the new gameplay additions and changes only add to the experience...It looks great in motion and it feels great to know you're the one at the helm, directing this bloody dance. It has its foibles and doesn't feel as rich as the last Ninja Gaiden, but this sequel still offers up a great ride.
"The visuals in the game are sharp and feature plenty of detail. Hayabusa has never looked better and, more importantly, has never moved better. The game's animation is fluid and packs a hefty amount of visceral appeal.
The game is sporting a ton of promise that, given Team Ninja's track record, we're hoping to see pay off in some exciting ways."
