Looking at the Xbox360 sales of Call of Duty 3, they stand around 1.5 million. The sales ratio of America to PAL regions is about 2.8. But remember that the Xbox360 has sold nearly half as many consoles in PAL regions as in the United States, while the PS2 sales ratio between the US and PAL is nearly 1 (around 1.06 to be exact). Once again, sales of CoD3 in the US, for the PS2, are around 677,837 copies sold. The assumption is that PAL regions, which in games like Call of Duty: Finest Hour showed sales nearly equal to that of American sales, should also buy this game to the same degree. Assuming that it sells around 50,000 copies less in PAL regions compared to American sales, that would put the total sales of this game at around 1.3 million copies sold. From this I still this stock is undervalued.
It seems like this game may have been lost in the shuffle, but it still looks like this game should be around at least 1.2 million sales judging by the fact that sales of CoD3 in the US sit around 675,204 and adding on PAL regions, which as stated before usually equal or surpass US CoD sales, this game should be around 1.2 million, possible 1.4 if CoD3 continues to sell well in the US (I expect it to top out at around a little over 700,000 in the US). This stock is undervalued at the current price.
This game should continue to climb to around 1.2 million copies. I strongly believe that PAL regions will be able to sell nearly as many copies as the US has. Considering that in the US CoD3 has sold 639,750 and usually PAL regions match or are a little under the US version, this game should sell at least 1 million copies, if not a little higher.
I have to agree with Pwn3d on this one, the US sales remain strong.
However I think the real kicker on this one is Europe and the rest of the world. International sales of Call of Duty nearly match the US sales, especially for the PS2 where the ratio is 1 to 1. VG charts has not yet reported any international numbers for this title but based on the historical figures for previous CoD titles they should be similar to the US sales. Previous PS2 titles have sold 2.73 million for CoD 1, and 1.74 million for CoD 2. I don't expect this one to go as high but it should do signifigantly more than the current estimate of 794,000.
Thanks Pwn3d for bringing this overlooked gem too my attention again. I believe this stock should go much higher and I am long shares of Call of Duty 3(PS2)
CoD3 (PS2) has now sold 603,250 copies (adding 70,000 copies in January). Current rate of sales should hit the stock price soon unless sales slow down dramatically. I think this is a Buy again.
Price now points to 694,200 copies sold for the PS2 version of CoD3. How high you guys think this can go? I know the next few months are traditionally slow selling for the VG industry. The stock is forecasting 150k more copies. How much more can this one do?
To update this one, the total sales to date are 540k, the estimated sales being forecast for this stock are only 532k. So, in other words, it has already outsold the estimate.
Thanks for correcting me Matt, I had accidentally posted the XBOX 360 numbers, but 365k is still quite strong, and lifetime sales of at least about a million still seem likely.
