I know VGC isn't ultimately accurate, but they have GH World Tour at only 3.11m copies. The GLS stock is over 1 million above that, which has to be a pretty large error. I think this stock can come down.
As you may have guessed from our headline, Guitar Hero: World Tour is finally coming to the PC. GameSpot has revealed that developer Aspyr, the team behind the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock PC port, will bring the best selling band-based game to PC this June.
The full list of songs in Guitar Hero World Tour has been disclosed by Gamespot UK! Inclides Dream Theater, Metallica, Micheal Jackson, Van Halen, and many more!
I'm surprised the stock price for this game isn't higher. Guitar Hero III is currently predicted at 3.30 million. One that launches a year later where the userbase is much higher, and with many new features, would seem to have an advantage. I guess the thing going against this would be if one predicted that people just got "Guitar Heroed out", but that seems an odd prediction after the games have been getting bigger over the years and showing long legs in the charts.
I'm surprised it's not relatively higher than the PS3/X360 versions for similar reasons. If the Wii version of GH3 is doing as well as the X360 version already, why shouldn't we expect the version released when Wii's lead in the west is dominant to show an even bigger difference? Especially since the non-Wii versions will have more legitimate competition from Rock Band and its sequel, whereas the day-late dollar-short Wii version of Rock Band should put up less of a fight. Yet compared to the versions of GH3 for each console, simExchange currently predicts the growth to the next version will be Wii 8%, X360 21%, and PS3 108%.
@RoommateDave, Yep, that's what I meant by saying the concerns of Wii owners - storage space is one large concern.
Rock Band Wii is pretty much going to get killed by GH: World Tour. EA and Harmonix will look like they were trying to get a quick cash-in on Wii (which they kind of are). I don't suspect that the timing of the unveil of this info was coincidence - right before the release of Rock Band Wii. I don't suspect many people will purchase Rock Band Wii over Guitar Hero: World Tour once the latter is released - specially since GH already has a dedicated fan base on the Wii.
Thanks for the link, lstormy10,. But I think more attention should be drawn to this point:
GH: World Tour for Wii will support DLC that can be played from the SD Card. Not just the user-created songs, but commercially-available content as well. I think this announcement pretty much kills Rock Band Wii.
@lstormy10, Many of the concerns of Wii owners have been addressed by Activision in developing Guitar Hero World Tour on the Wii it seems like. There is going to be DLC, online 8-player multiplayer, and the best thing of all is that it is going to ship with stereo sound (the interviewer seriously did ask to make sure).
By appearances, I would say that on the Wii, Guitar World Tour is going to be much better than Rock Band in most regards. I see GHWT doing better than Rock Band on the Wii for sure - no doubt about it.
"Now, Activision and Vicarious Visions are hard at work on the official sequel, an ambitious undertaking that strives to outdo Rock Band in every regard. It's called Guitar Hero World Tour, it comes not only with a guitar, but a microphone and drum set, too. And there's a music mixer program. And downloadable content. And online multiplayer. Guess what? The Wii version includes it all. We chatted with Vicarious Visions' CEO, Karthik Bala, about bringing the groundbreaking title to Wii."
