"In every console generation there are one or two games that, regardless of any flaws, hold tight in my memory even years later. Ubisoft’s relaunch of Prince of Persia may just be such a game for me from this generation. It has its shortcomings, but I already sense that Prince of Persia will be one of the few games from this generation that I carry with me for the next decade."
OXM UK has reported that in its latest issue, Prince of Persia scored 8/10 in the world exclusive review.
Reviewer Gillen McAllister says "the look, the feel of the game, is one that turns back time and makes what was once the waning memory of an ailing genre fresh once more."
Prince of Persia isn't even out yet, but Ubisoft is already hyping their plans for downloadable content -- content that apparently will be pretty big in scope. Speaking in a video interview with Gamersyde (via Eurogamer), producer Ben Mattes said Prince of Persia's DLC will add "significant value," so much so that it may even function as a prequel or a sequel to the story.
It has been only a month since our last look at the new Prince of Persia game, but a lot has changed in that time. Our last chance to see it was during the Tokyo Game Show, where we were given a glimpse at the very beginning of the game. This time around, we had a bit more time to explore the world at our own pace on a more complete build of the Xbox 360 version of the game.
So imagine our surprise, delight and ultimate relief when, five minutes into this new game, it's like Warrior Within and… that other one never happened. It's witty, charming, romantic and simply joyous to behold. It's even got bright blues skies – and you don't get to say that very much any more. New Prince is full of warmth and character.
Ubisoft has confirmed that its new, aesthetically alluring Prince of Persia adventure will be purifying that dubious stack of plastic cases you call a game collection on December 2nd, 2008. The absurdly agile protagonist and his lithe lady friend, Elika, will be putting Ahriman (you know, typically disgruntled god thing) in his place on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
Ubisoft demonstrated eight minutes of the new Prince of Persia title at the company's press conference earlier today.
The footage covers the length of one level from the game, allowing a glimpse of the partner-based gameplay.
