Well, in my opinion the current price (~1718.48) of this stock is highly overrated. At best, it will sell 16.5m, if not less. There are numerous reasons to think so. NDS is no more the top handheld platform, it is already being taken over by 3DS, and the attention is on 3DS content. The next reason is that Pokemon games now have a shorter break in between releases. This could mean that some players might be already filled up with Pokemon-and-what-not stuff. However strong 'starting' sales may look now, it is clear that it is not going to reach 17m. Now the sales have sloped down substantially and it sells only a small number of copies. Also, Europe seems to sell a lot less than the US or Japan, and it may add the negative effect on sales. Thus to conclude I would like to say that it is definitely not going to reach the 17m scale, and the stock price should decline as well.
Nintendo's latest strategy RPG duo sets franchise-best record following March 6 release in US.
Pokemon fans have responded with ardor to the fifth generation in Nintendo's strategy role-playing franchise Pokemon. Today, Nintendo announced that Pokemon Black and White have set new sales records following their launch in the US on Sunday. Combined, the two versions of the same game sold 1.08 million units within 24 hours in the region.
Nintendo's encapsulated warrior creatures return to North America in a new adventure with Pokémon Black and Pokemon White on March 6, 2011. The two versions of the game continue the tradition of being slightly different (this time, slightly more than usual) with different locations, creatures and seasons available. The Black version will offer the Pokémon Reshiram and a setting called Black City, while White will contain the "lush, green area" of White Forest and let you capture Zekrom.
It's no big surprise that Pokemon is getting a little...stale. There, we said it. Even those of us who are actually big fans of the series are starting to get fed up with how slowly the series is progressing. Instead of writing an article saying the game needs a complete overhaul with a new real-time battle system and 3D everything, we decided to go for the more realistic route
Nintendo's Pokemon franchise can be considered an enduring worldwide phenomenon, but nowhere is that more true than in its native Japan. Case in point, Famitsu publisher Enterbrain reports that the latest installments in the dual-release franchise, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White, have combined to set a new first-week sales record for the franchise upon their release in Japan on September 18.

Sales have leveled off completely in EU (and lesser so, but still slower than pearl in US).
This has no chance of hitting 17 million at this point.
