Today, Midway Games confirmed what had been rumored for a while: the first next-generation Mortal Kombat title, up until now called "Mortal Kombat 8" by the community, is officially titled Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. As the title suggests, it will be a crossover with the characters and setting of DC Comics. Further information about the game should be forthcoming.

Sumner Redstone has sold his controlling stake in Midway Games for USD 100,000 (EUR 79,241 / GBP 66, 718), or USD 0.0012 per share, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.

Net revenues for the 2008 first quarter were $29.9 million, compared to the 2007 first quarter net revenues of $11.1 million and ahead of prior guidance of approximately $28 million. The 2008 first quarter net loss was $34.0 million, compared with a 2007 first quarter net loss of $19.8 million.

Midway has announced its financial results for Q4 2007 and the full fiscal year, reporting a USD 29.7 million and USD 97.4 million loss, respectively. For Q4, net revenues were USD 77.6 million - down 19.3 million or approximately 20 per cent from the prior year's Q4 revenues of USD 96.9 million.

Midway is set to take the wraps off its new Mortal Kombat title today at the publisher’s Gamers Day event in Las Vegas. MCV understands that a new version of the classic beat ‘em up franchise will be a key announcement for the company today – along with further updates from Midway on the likes of Wheelman, This Is Vegas and TNA Wrestling.
