Midway is set to take the wraps off its new Mortal Kombat title today at the publisher’s Gamers Day event in Las Vegas. MCV understands that a new version of the classic beat ‘em up franchise will be a key announcement for the company today – along with further updates from Midway on the likes of Wheelman, This Is Vegas and TNA Wrestling. Rumours suggesting that it has been built around Epic’s Unreal engine.

I'm pretty sure Midway/Epic confirmed that this used UE3 when Midway signed up to use the engine a year or more ago.
Also, you might find this next iteration of the franchise to be a little different from what you might expect from an MK game, at least, that's what I was told :)
