According to NTT Publishing's EG game news site, the new Nintendo DS Pokémon games Diamond and Pearl accrued combined sales of 1.58 million units during their debut week of September 28 through October 1. This beats the franchise's former champions of first-week sales, Pocket Monster Gold/Silver, which combined moved 1.41 million copies back in 1999.

Official Press release, posted on Gamershell. Pokemond Diamond is the best selling video game in the US this year thus far, Pearl is #3. Both sold more than 3 millions copy's, so more than 6 millions combined.

Pokemon Ranch is now available from the Wii Shop. The game allows Mii characters to interact with Pokemon in a farm-type setting. Also, owners of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl can store up to 1000 Pokemon in the game, fulfilling the same role as Pokemon Box did for the GBA/Gamecube generation.
