Nintendo of Europe has announced that Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are heading over to Blighty on July 27, having already conquering Japan and America. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were released in America earlier this month and sold a staggering 1.75 million copies in just 14 days, according to independent sales data gathered by the NPD Group. Meanwhile in Japan, five million copies have been sold since the games launched in September 2006. Will Europe be next to bow down to Pikachu's power?

Only two months since the release of the DS incarnation of the Pokemon series in NA, over 10 million Pokemon have been exchanged via the games' online trading system GTS as reported in this article, citing Famitsu. A significant percentage of these trades were attributed to the Japanese' preference for English-named Pokemon. As the article humorly states, one can only imagine the aftermath of the games' release in Europe and Australia.
