Okami confirmed for Wii

IGN - October 18, 2007

Submitted by Just_Ben (112) at 8:25AM PST on October 18, 2007

Capcom has finally confirmed persistent rumours that Okami is coming to Nintendo Wii, telling a London audience this week that the game will arrive on our screens in spring 2008. The game also lends itself rather well to the potential of Nintendo's Wiimote for control. Amaterasu's Celestial Brush - a paintbrush used in combat and for solving puzzles - is a perfect fit for the Wiimote, and so it proves, while combat will also include various "motion-controlled physical attacks".

In laying out its release lineup for the first half of the year in mid January, Nintendo gave the game's fervent following happy tidings, marking Okami for release on March 25. However, that reveal now appears to have been premature, as Capcom has today confirmed to GameSpot that Okami's prowl has been postponed three weeks to April 15.Capcom gave no explanation as to why the game was delayed.

Age isn't kind to many games, but with the addition of motion controls for the celestial brush and support for widescreen and progressive scan displays, Okami has been updated enough to make it even more relevant today than it was in 2006.

GamePro - March 25, 2008

When Okami originally came out on the PS2, gamers and critics alike were impressed with its original visual style and story design. Now, two years later, the game debuts on the Wii and manages to not only recapture the magic and charm of the original but it surpasses it in many ways.

Ready at Dawn on difficulties of porting Okami to Wii

Wii Qj.net - February 18, 2008

Submitted by arthurlucena (575) at 4:21AM PST on February 18, 2008

"All signs say Okami's port to the Nintendo Wii is ready to ship on its scheduled March 25 release date. The wait may be getting unbearable for fans, but according to Ready at Dawn who handled the port of Capcom's colorful classic which was originally developed by the now defunct Clover Studio, making the PS2 game run on the white hot console wasn't exactly easy."
