Now this is just what is says a rumour nothing more. That aside if this was proved true the impact could be huge. Sony would effectively be buying exclusivity.

RE: Rumor Control: Sony To Buy Rockstar?Hmm, I wonder if Sony even has the spare cash to try a takeover of a studio...their games division is in serious trouble already and Rockstar has a history of terrible press and being targetted by certain political elements (Hot Coffee, Bully, Manhunt 2...).
Many of their games have already been Sony exclusives (others timed exclusives) and so far they've announced 4 titles for the PS3, 4 for the 360 and 3 for the Wii. With their PS3 support looking a lot smaller than their PS2 line-up, I'm doubtful they've want the Sony buyout.[ Oracle ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 182 ]bids

But, I would not expect Sony to buy Rockstar because of Rockstar's image as the bad boy of gaming developers. Sony and Microsoft love having GTA on their systems, but neither one wants to be held responsible for their actions as a company. Both Sony and Microsoft said they would not approve Manhunt 2 if it was given the AO rating.
