Also as an aside Adrian Lawton (Take 2 PR geezer) has been quoted: "We've being doing a lot of review sessions recently with press guys. Most people are coming in around twenty hours," Lawton stated. He also revealed that there will be two alternate endings to the game.
So scary, hard and reasonable long. Not bad for a Console game I suppose.
@Stitch, After playing through the demo three times my opinions are as follows. Bioshock brings the best graphics to date to the 360, the gameplay is frantic, suspensefule, smooth, and very refined. The atmosphere of the game is where it shines. The use of sound, art, lighting, and enemy AI makes this game a gem. The game is VERY dark and original. I played both System Shocks thoroughly and kind of had an idea of what would be coming in Bioshock, but Bioshock takes the gameplay from the System Shocks, expands it, and makes it five times as scary.
The biggest thing Bioshock has going for it is it's Horror element. I don't feel most gamers have played a true horror game, Resident Evil and Silent Hill are as close to "horror" game as most gamers have ever gotten, and Bioshock makes them both look like an episode of Sesame Street. This is what I think will give this game it's appeal, is the horror/environment.
As for the "innovation" in gameplay with the plasmids and so forth, I hate to nit pick, but the plasmids have been done before in the System Shock games under a different name, however they are still done awesomely.
I will buy this game without a doubt, however, I don't know if I will ever be able to finish the single player. I don't think I can play this game for more then 30 minutes a sitting without being overly stressed from the game.
@welshbloke, thanks. I was more curious what other folks on the simExchange were thinking about the game. There are definitely going to be tons of reviews available online. Has anyone here on the simExchange tried the demo yet?
I wonder how many of the people here are professionals and analysts who mostly study the games by the numbers and how many are gamers and the actual consumers for the games. I am always curious why I don't see more people posting here their actual thoughts from playing a game because quality is generally a large part of forecasting how well a game will sell.
If you look in the comment section on the linked item about page 4 into the comments (you need to get past all the moans about how slow the download was) you start to get people talking about the demo. Most have been very impressed. The quote is from that section. I only found 1 negative comment which was actually the best written comment with regards to gameplay, the majority are fanboying over it big time.
@welshbloke, has anyone had a chance to try out the demo? I've been looking forward to the game due to the trailers, but I'm a bit skeptical of the 2.5 million+ forecast. Bioshock looks like a great game, but 2.5 million+ on an Xbox platform is a monumental game. I'd like to hear some community feedback on the demo.
Although many are still struggling to get this game down onto the box those who have seem to be raving about it to a man.
This is my favourite quote
"I started the bioshock demo and I thought I was still watching the opening cinematic, and nothing was going on, just floating in water surrounded by fire, so I moved the joystick, and I just started laughing"
I was seriously doubting this games hype especially its August Futures but I may have to take a step back now.
