IGN Entertainment has released a GamerMetrics report with anticipated sales projections, statistics and commentary specifically focused on the upcoming release of Halo 3; in the report, GamerMetrics analyst Nick Williams. Williams predicts that the game will sell more than 4 million units in the US alone within the first two months on the market.

Personal, i don't understand the 360 number for october. Halo 3 the game on the 360. 345K 360 should be sold just alone if you calculate august sales to 5 weeks. Now add what you think halo 3 will move. 100k in the 2 weeks sounds realistic to me. If one game can drive sales for the box, it is halo 3. And the summer is over, september sales should be higher than august anyway. 450k for the 360 is my minimum. It seems the market see that otherwise. I think for this game to sell 4 million in the US alone in just months you would need to see some large hardware sales to back that up and I mean LARGE.
Currently we are projecting just short of 400k for September and only 250k for October. These numbers and the current install base are unlikely to support 4 million sales in only 2 months, so somebody is wrong probably me.[ Oracle ] [ Level 30 ] [ Rank: 60 ]bids

Well, i think it is possible. Halo 3 is the reason a lot of people bought the 360 in the first place. And halo 3 has much more hype than 2. Burger King advertisement. Advertisement at the bank. That is the game that will most likely will beat the first day revenue of films. It should sell like crazy. 3 Million in September? Possible. 4 Millions till December? Right now this prediction says that 4 million units will sell in 2 months in the US. One should note that this would likely mean that the 300DKP September future here is over-priced.
Regardless, that's still predicting an incredible attachment rate. There's only about 7 million 360s in America and even if hardware sales doubled over the next two months, that would leave 8 million systems....predicting a 50% attachment rate of a single game in 2 months.
For comparison (based on VGchartz lifetime numbers), Halo ended up with a 30% attachment rate and Halo 2 had 40%. Given the incredible hype behind Halo 2 (and that it only reached 40% at the end of the console cycle), can we really expect Halo 3 to pass that in 2 months?
