The PR team has just released some interesting numbers on where we are with the Xbox 360 that I thought you would enjoy discussing:
* We have sold more than 17.7 million Xbox 360 consoles worldwide
* More than 8.1 million copies of "Halo 3" have been sold since its launch (September 25, 2007)
* Mass Effect" reached 1.6 million units sold, in just six weeks (on sale November 20, 2007)

I think that this strengthens the case for 3rd party console exclusives on 360. Games like Bioshock don't need to be multiplatform at launch, but do need to be released on the PC.

Unless it is specifically mentioned as "sold to customer", Microsoft usually meant "sold/ shipped to retailers". The only thing that I would be wary about is the fact that it is not known whether these figures provided by Microsoft are for units shipped to retailers (which they are in many cases to make the data look more impressive) or actual units purchased by consumers.[ Oracle ] [ Level 20 ] [ Rank: 294 ]bids

RE: Microsoft announce sales figuresThis is interesting. 17.7 million Xbox 360s sold globally at this phase in the console cycle lends some credence to the 50 million+ forecast we have. If Halo 3 has sold through 8.1 million units, then the current forecast of just over 9 million is a bit low.
