Capcom's Christian Svensson: "The sales life cycle of a product is shrinking. If a game undersells its first month at retail, it's finished at retail. Often, though, it's quicker: if a game underperforms its first week, it is more than likely 'dead on arrival'."

Indeed i found this article interesting as well. And what Kotaku highlighted of the original article isn't fully representative of what the original article spoke of as a whole.
The thoughts I had on what Kotaku highlighted however - and I believe someone in gaming "journalism" had covered this already - was how A.D.D. it seems gamers are now. Minus the exceptions like Halo 3 and COD4, it seems every week people move on from one game to the next.
I'm not sure if that's how it has always been since I didn't follow the industry before as I do now. And I don't know if it's just an Xbox 360 thing (since that's where I see these movements of gamers). And I tend to think it's just how the internet is affecting this generation (bite-sized entertainment ie Youtube).
Or maybe it's insight into why the USA economy is struggling? People buying unnecessary things when they still have bills to pay?
My two cents.
