MS claimed to have more than doubled 360’s EU sales due to recent price cut, but it failed to surpass PS3. UK console sales monitor Chart Track confirmed that the past 15 weeks the PS3 has largely kept ahead of the Xbox 360. However, a spokesman admitted that the two machines' units have been "extremely close" in some weeks. The Wii would still be ahead of PS3 and Xbox 360 if those two machines' UK sales were combined.

The above mentioned quotes is the part that I am interested in.
In US, March 2008 NPD showed that Wii > PS3 + X360. I never thought/suspect that the same thing could happen in UK, a long time Sonyland, a country where GC is doing very badly, so much so that it was no longer sold by major gameshop in UK (from what Londoners told me).

In the article this quote comes after the Sony PR quote, to confirm Sony's quote. I interpreted the quote above to mean each of the past 15 weeks, not the past 15 weeks combined, since it came after the Sony quote that stated every week, in order to confirm that quote the site had contacted Chart Track. I did not foresee that the quote above could be interpreted as 15 weeks combined, but now I do. Over the two weeks following the price cut, 360 sales were up 240%! Admittedly that was Easter as well.
I would pay more attention to what Chart-Track say over Sony or MS PR. Neither of them are slow to make a big deal out of a relatively small datapoint taken out of context.[ Oracle ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 291 ]bids

i didnt read the whole article, i just assumed that the 360's price cut wuld have put it ahead of the PS3 for a couple of weeks at least. could this be typical Sony PR, you know the kind where they claim over 1million pre-orders for GT5 Prologue (with still a week or so until release) and only sell 400k copies in the first week? as i find it hard to believe that with the gap being fairly close the price cut wouldnt have pushed the 360 past the PS3 for a week at least.[ Oracle ] [ Level 22 ] [ Rank: 150 ]bids

It should be said that although the weekly rate for the PS3 is higher, it's still a long way behind in terms of install base. The 360 is there or thereabouts 2m in the UK and the PS3 only recently cleared 1m.
It's catching up but the weekly rates are so close, it would take quite a while at present.
