Hopefully this signals a legitimate effort by Microsoft to break out of their gaming rut. Their Live Arcade service had a huge headstart on the Wii and has a ton of original, fun content on it...they really haven't capitalized on that. For example, what were some of the top Arcade games? 1989 TMNT, Paperboy, Castlevania, Worms. People love the 8-bit games.
The next 6 months will be key to see if Microsoft can carve out a unique niche in the market, or if it gets lost in the oncoming clutter of original WiiWare games and high-def Sony releases.
