My point was incompatibilities come from closed standards and software proprietors choosing not to be interoperable to weaken the competition. It's why they just got fined $1.3 billion.

The amount of open source applications used in the world today bears no relevance to the point I was making.
Competition is a good thing. Even in software. It requires openness to truly benefit the consumer though.
