DQIX dated for March 2009. It is unfortunate that Square Enix didn't give the date, but this mean that the first week sales of the game will count toward SE's Fiscal Year revenue calculation.
In TGS 2008 (October 9 - October 12), on 11th (1:00 to 2:30 pm) and 12th (10:30 am to noon) there will be a DRAGON QUEST SPECIAL STAGE EVENT by Square Enix. They will announce the LATEST NEWS regarding DQIX.
@Mushashi, That seems to make sense then as there is a previous article on here where an analyst says DQ IX may sell 5 million, last one listed on this game's main page.
Square Enix saw its Tokyo stock rating upgraded by Cosmo Securities, to "neutral plus" from the "neutral" rating it has maintained since November 26.
The shares rose 1.9 per cent, to close at JPY 3210 (USD 30.7) on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and much of the improvement is being put down to the performance of the company's Dragon Quest IX DS title, which sold 5 million units.
"Square Enix may be unwilling to commit to a final release date for Dragon Quest IX, but developer Level-5's president may have just done the deed himself. Appearing in an interview in the latest issue of Famitsu, Akihiro Hino said that his goal for 2008 is to finish work on White Knight Chronicles, Inazuma Eleven, the third Professor Layton game, and Dragon Quest IX."

He (Yoichi Wada) also said that he wants to make more Wii software. He showed interest in the download model of the Wii (not sure if its Wii Ware or Virtual Console though).
