@welshbloke, Probably the pre-order is low, and the first shipment outside of pre-order is not big enough. At least that what usually happen in Japan in the last few months for several games on PS3 and X360.
Yes, but since that was the 1st time I submitted news I didn't know how to change it. I misread it the 1st time and assumed it was both since I read it on the PS3 ign site.
"Despite releasing just yesterday, the developer confirmed today shortages are occurring in specific regions across North America, and that the company is looking to meet the demand.
"Yes, Borderlands copies of the Xbox 360 SKU have run out in a few regions, especially the east coast," Gearbox VP of Marketing Steve Gibson told IGN. "We are aware of this and are working with production and distribution at ramping up to catch up with demand."
Releasing something fresh and new is always risky, but especially so during the lead up to the holiday season which is when established brands tend to take up a lot of consumer attention. Add to that an economy that’s not in the best shape and anything new and unproven has a few reasons to worry. Gearbox’s CEO Randy Pitchford takes that a step further and admits he is “totally terrified” over the upcoming late-October release of their cel-shaded beauty Borderlands.
Randy Pitchford, the president and founder of Gearbox, was walking us through the single-player campaign when he was hit by a need to show off a particularly cool gun. Jumping into a debug menu screen, he was able to select a few parameters to find just the sorta gun he was looking for. In this case it was a rocket launcher with the description, "Holy sh*t, it shoots rockets!"
As a co-op experience it appears to offer pretty much everything, and the RPG elements give the FPS gameplay a refreshing feel that the genre really needs. While games like Mass Effect and this year's Fallout 3 appear to offer action-based RPG gameplay, they are still RPGs at heart with combat to match - Borderlands is most definitely still an FPS that plays like you'd expect, with the added bonus of RPG elements.
