2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), announced today that it will be the North American and international publisher for Cryptic Studios' highly anticipated massively multiplayer online (MMO) action game, Champions Online, being developed for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft* and Games for Windows. Champions Online is scheduled for release in spring of 2009.

Take-Two Interactive Software, parent company of 2K Games and Rockstar Games, today announced that it has acquired Czech Republic based developer Illusion Softworks. The studio will join the 2K Games publishing label as 2K Czech.

TTWO today announced two new titles as a part of its brand extension strategy for its highly popular Carnival Games series. The new titles include Carnival Games for DS, which is scheduled to ship this summer, and Carnival Games: Mini-Golf, an all-new game exclusive to the Wii, which will debut this fall.

2K Games has officially announced that its 2K Marin studio is developing a PlayStation 3 version of the critical hit BioShock, promising "new features and content" not seen in the Xbox 360 and PC original, due for an October 2008 release.

Take-Two Urges Shareholders Not to Sell

Yesterday, Electronic Arts put down the NERF bats and picked up sledge hammers -- in circumventing Take-Two's executives, EA initiated a hostile takeover by presenting a $2 billion offer to the company's shareholders themselves, offering $26 per share. Today Gamasutra reports that Take-Two is urging its shareholders not to sell, at least long enough for executives to review the fairness of the offer in full.
