Funcom launches free trials for its fantasy MMO Age of Conan today. There are 10,000 keys available for each server (European and American), and anyone can play on any server. Each trial key unlocks seven days of free play, and three exclusive in-game items. Funcom has made many claims for fixing the game's flaws and flooding it with new content, but do they stand up? We sent our long-suffering Hyborian correspondent Rob Fahey back into the game to find out.

Funcom has reported its financial results for the fourth quarter, revealing an operating loss of USD 23.3 million, caused by a depreciation of USD 22.8 million due to the lagging performance of Age of Conan. The poor performance is compounded by the announcement that the company's chief financial officer, Olav Sandnes, has resigned from the position.

A month old but it supports my question from back in Dec...why does TSE support the current price? We know about sales of up to 800k (based on reported subscribers at some point) but have had no sales numbers since and subscriber base continues to plummet.

"Funcom has told Eurogamer that Age of Conan has been pushed back to 20th May. The gory MMORPG was previously expected in March, but apparently the developer needed more time to iron out bugs and stress-test the systems."

Age of Conan got a major content update on November 12. The new area called Ymirs Pass is targeted at mid- to late lvl 50s. The update also includes a new arena that resembles an indoor circus maximus with big bosses to fight. The link attached brings you to a page with an interview with one of the designers of Ymirs Pass, and a letter from the Game Director about the future updates of AoC.
